Dear church family,
As you might imagine, COVID-19 has cast some uncertainty on what camp will look like this summer. We have been working closely with the camp to consider all the possibilities. After much prayer and deliberation, it is with sadness and concern for the safety of our students and their families that our staff have decided to cancel summer camp for 2020.
There are many professionals who feel this situation is passing quickly and the stats seem to reflect that feeling, but we still need to be sensitive to all of our church family’s concerns when it comes to regathering in places like camp. Some are ready to get to summer and get back to life, while others are still concerned.
We prayerfully approached this decision and want to keep our members, families, and community safe during this time. We have also consulted with a number of other churches that have made the same decision.
We know this is not an ideal outcome for anyone and we are very sorry about how it might affect your summer. However, we are continuing to trust in God to give us wisdom and perseverance in these challenging times. “I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord”. (Psalm 27:13-14)

Q: What happens to my deposit money?
A: We have made the decision to cancel as a church. At this point the camp is still open so no refunds are available. If the camp decides to cancel completely then all funds will be refunded. Since we have already sent the deposits to the camp and they are non-refundable we cannot return any money submitted at this time, but the camp has offered us the opportunity to transfer $50 of the deposit paid per student to Camp for 2021. This also locks in the current rate for 2021 so we will not see an increase in cost next year. The students will still be receiving all the “SWAG” items that they normally get when at camp so we will need your T-shirt sizes.
Q: Will there still be something offered for our students this summer?
A: Yes! Our Youth Team has been meeting and discussing plans for any alternative events that will be both life-giving and safe for our students! We will not have any overnight events, but we are currently in the process of planning! Make sure to follow us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/ccofwyouth/ and Remind by texting CCOFWP to 81080 for updates.
Q: What are some other deciding factors for not having camp?
A: Our staff consulted many other churches, and they have all canceled their camps. Similarly, the camp we had planned to attend were not certain they would have camp this summer. As many of the camps and churches across the state have decided to cancel their summer camps, we prayerfully considered this, and thus, came to the conclusion to cancel our summer camps.
